This policy addresses the collection, use of and access to information that may be obtained through the usage of the myColorado application (App) and any state services provided by it. This notice covers the following topics:
What information do we gather about you?
If you use myColorado Services, we collect certain information regarding your use of the Website and mobile App, including, but not limited to your IP address, device ID and browser type (“Analytic Data”). Your session and the pages you visit on the Website will be tracked, but you will remain anonymous. We may use your IP address to identify the general geographic area from which you are accessing the Website to help serve content to you through the Internet.
Except for Analytic Data, myColorado will not collect any other personal information from you unless you voluntarily provide the information to us. This type of information may include your name, home address, email address, or phone number, location data, state-issued identification card, biometric data, or any other information you provide that could be used to identify you (“Personal Information”).
What do we use your information for?
We use Analytic Data for systems administration purposes and to track user trends. We use Personal Information we collect from you solely as necessary to verify your identity and support your use of the Services. For instance, the App will collect measurements and images of your face to match your face with your Colorado issued driver license or identification card. Similarly, we may ask you to send us a picture of your state issued identification card to help us verify your identity when you create an account in the App. In addition, we may use your Personal Information or location data to promote, market and help you access functionality offered through the App or other state services.
Who do we share information about you with?
We share your information with our third-party service providers that support our delivery of the Services. We may also share Personal Information with Colorado state agencies as necessary to provide you with access to certain functions made available through the App.
Finally, we may share your information in response to a court order, subpoena or other valid legal request in accordance with all applicable laws.
myColorado will not sell, exchange, or otherwise distribute your Personal Information without your consent.
What happens if I share my information using the myColorado mobile App?
You can share your information by pulling up the information in the App and showing your device’s screen to another person. For instance, you can show your fishing license to a park ranger or your vaccine information to venue security using this method.
You can also choose to share your information and files by allowing third parties to scan the barcode on the back of your driver license, or a QR code associated with specific information on the App (e.g., the vaccination record QR code), or by using the “Share my Information Scan QR Code” feature in the myColorado App. Choosing this feature will open your device’s camera and allow you to hover your camera over a QR code, which will prompt you to answer certain questions to obtain your consent to share some or all of the requested information. For example, you may use this feature to scan a participating police officer’s QR code to share your driver license information with the officer to complete a traffic stop. If you have uploaded files from your device using the App, such as an insurance card or vehicle registration card, you may provide consent to share those files, as well. No files will be shared without your consent.
Please note that if you choose to share your information with any third parties, that information will be used in accordance with the policies and procedures set by those third parties. For instance, if you use this feature to share your information with a law enforcement officer at a traffic stop, that information will be used by law enforcement pursuant to the laws, policies and standards that apply to the law enforcement agency collecting the information. Similarly, if you provide your information to a private third party, it will be used pursuant to the policies maintained by that third party.
We recommend that you request information about how the data will be used before you share any of your information.
Deletion of Your Account
You may request that myColorado delete your Personal Information from the App at any time by contacting myColorado@state.co.us. You may also delete your account within the App. Please note that the deletion of your Personal Information from the App will essentially result in the deletion of your account, making the various functions of the App inaccessible. In addition, you will need to resubmit your Personal Information if you ever want to resume using the myColorado App to verify your identity to avoid identity theft and fraud.
Please note that deletion of your data from myColorado will not delete data held by the various Colorado state agencies that offer services through the App. If you have any questions regarding how your data is managed by any state agency, we recommend you reach out to that agency directly.
